YANMAR Technical Review
Editor's Postscript
This year the lingering heat is severe in Japan, with 30-degree days continuing even into October. As we look forward to the arrival of Fall in earnest, I hope all of our readers are making the most of the season.
This issue features a special article in recognition of this year being the 60th anniversary of the opening of our first Technology Research Center in 1956, the precursor of what is now the Research & Development Center.
The article covers the history of the Research & Development Center together with its recent research activities and its plans for the future in its role as a source of the technologies through which we will realize our new brand statement, “A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE” -Technology for New Prosperity-.
This includes a history of research on engines, Yanmar's core technology, as well as details of our effort on introducing electronic control and how we go about establishing the high reliability of our products. I would appreciate your taking a look.
Other articles include a profile of Yanmar America (based in Atlanta, Georgia), which has an important role in globalizing our business, and summaries on the products and their technologies of the new YT4/5 series of tractors that incorporate premium design and the EX38A Fishing and Pleasure Boat that provides higher comfortability.
YANMAR Technical Review will continue to present the company's history, its advanced technologies, and its moves toward globalization. I look forward to your ongoing reading with pleasure.
