However, what future does the company envision in today's rapidly evolving society?

Building a Future with Clean and Green Technology
Yanmar Power Technology, established in 2020, set forth a vision to become "A GLOBAL LEADER in Green Powertrain Technologies for Land, Sea, and City." The Yanmar Group is developing various businesses to realize a "new affluence"—a society that embraces energy-efficient lifestyles and enjoys food security. We aspire to realize this vision, particularly in the energy conversion field.
Yanmar Power Technology has set its sights on becoming a leading powertrain company utilizing clean and green technology by 2050. We're working tirelessly, with one of our key objectives being the provision of electric powertrains for industrial equipment.
Given that 2050 is quite distant, our interim goal for 2035 is to develop technologies that will make green powertrain technologies our foundation. We plan to build internal combustion engines that run on environmentally friendly fuels and highly efficient engines that use fossil fuels, simultaneously working toward launching electric powertrains. Notably, the market for electric powertrains is expected to take shape by around 2035, and we aim to be a leading company by that time.

Tackling Environmental Challenges and Developing Sustainable Solutions
One of the primary social issues Yanmar Power Technology must address is environmental concerns, particularly the reduction of CO2 emissions. This challenge is significant, requiring both technological innovation and the development of sustainable solutions. We're facing predictions of future global food and water shortages due to population growth, posing threats to human survival. To help mitigate these challenges, we aim to leverage our technological capabilities to make meaningful contributions.

While Yanmar Power Technology doesn't directly build infrastructure, we aim to contribute to society by providing powertrain solutions supporting infrastructure construction and agriculture businesses.
Our most significant challenge lies in transitioning from fossil fuel-based engines, which have been the cornerstone of our business until now. Beyond electrification, we're exploring various alternative fuel options, including hydrogen, methanol, ammonia, biofuels, and e-fuels (synthetic fuels). At this point, it's still uncertain which power source will dominate the market in the future. However, we anticipate that the optimal choice will vary depending on the specific application, type of equipment, and geographical region. For instance, hydrogen may be particularly suitable for medium and large engines. Given this variability, our strategy is to develop versatile technologies, allowing our powertrains to adapt to and excel in any scenario.
Diesel Engine Expertise and the Shift to Electrification
One of Yanmar Power Technology's key strengths lies in our century-long legacy of diesel engine production, serving an extensive customer base. Our engines power various machinery, including agricultural, industrial, and construction machinery, ocean-going merchant ships, fishing boats, and pleasure craft. We've developed the flexibility to address varied needs within the same application through the partnerships with our customers; subsequently, this has resulted in a wealth of knowledge regarding equipment usage and the specific engine characteristics required for different tasks. This expertise will remain valuable even as we transition to new power sources.
As we move towards electrification, we're committed to expanding our expertise in individual components such as motors and batteries. However, when integrating these elements and offering them as a complete package with an output axis, we can fully leverage the decades of knowledge and experience we've accumulated.

Work equipment's fundamental requirements remain unchanged, even with the shift to electric power. We plan to customize electric powertrain software based on our extensive know-how, collaborating closely with equipment manufacturers to create systems that meet end-user needs. By capitalizing on this approach, we believe we can offer equipment manufacturers significant advantages, including shorter development cycles and reduced costs.
We've welcomed ELEO to our team to accelerate our development of electric solutions. ELEO, a key player in battery pack development, has created a unique battery management system (BMS) and thermal management technology specifically for industrial machinery. ELEO specializes in developing and producing advanced modular battery packs, leveraging their proprietary BMS and thermal management technology, providing tailored industrial applications. By collaborating with ELEO to develop battery packs designed explicitly for industrial machinery, we're taking a significant step toward our goal of becoming a leading company in electrification by 2035.
Enriching Society Through Powertrain Innovation
Yanmar Power Technology's vision for the future is to enrich society through our powertrain solutions. Our company's roots trace back to our founder, who came from a farming background and established Yanmar with the intention of enhancing working conditions and livelihoods in agriculture. It's my commitment to uphold and expand upon this founding philosophy.
Our role in society is to support those who build and maintain our infrastructure through innovative energy conversion technology. As we strive to lead in green power technology, we aim to empower those who are the pillars of society while contributing to environmental sustainability.
We are committed to delivering truly valuable solutions to our customers by embracing innovation and challenges in conventional industrial and marine engines and next-generation powertrain technologies. We will unite as one to achieve this goal. Additionally, we plan to develop solutions that will further shorten the development cycle and lower the cost of work equipment.
