The Race of the Classics is a unique, annual student sailing event from The Netherlands to Great Britain and back. This year’s Race was the 30th edition and took place from 2-8 April. IVA Business School in Driebergen participated for the 7th time with a team consisting of first-year to third-year students of both Nautical and Automotive Business Management.
Meet students
YANMAR Marine and YANMAR Group company Vetus entered into a sponsorship of the IVA Driebergen Team. The Race of the Classics is an excellent opportunity to reach out to students in the marine business, nurture their sailing ambitions and spark their interest in YANMAR and Vetus as inspiring and potential employers. Among other things, the sponsoring package included logos and mentions on social media and printed matter related to the Race, flags in all departure and arrival ports and an invitation to the networking event and the VIP Sailing Day.
3-mast topsail schooner
Team IVA Driebergen team embarked on the majestic 3-mast topsail schooner, the ‘Swaensborgh’. Measuring 47 metres and with a 535-m2 sail area, it is still as impressive and elegant as it was back in 1907, when it was launched in the German port of Moorrege, close to Hamburg.
