YANMAR AMERICA A PRIMARY SPONSOR IN THE 2020 COCA-COLA 600 RACE
Adairsville, GA (May 21, 2020) –YANMAR America is excited to announce our participation as the primary sponsor for the No. 38 car, driven by Rookie-of-the-Year candidate, John Hunter Nemechek, for the Coca-Cola 600 this weekend in Charlotte. View the race on Sunday, May 24, at 6 p.m on Fox.
Since Sunday’s race falls on Memorial Day weekend, NASCAR is penning the event "600 Miles of Remembrance," to honor military members who lost their lives while serving as U.S. service members. In addition, every NASCAR Cup Series car will display the name of a fallen military hero on the windshield during Sunday’s race. The No. 38 YANMAR car will display the name of SSG Nicholas Carnes, who was killed while on an Army mission in Afghanistan, as well as the Folds of Honor logo, a non-profit organization benefiting the families of fallen or disabled service members.
“Before I began working at YANMAR, I served in the Army alongside SSG Nicholas Carnes,” said Matt Hilliard, YANMAR Industrial Account Manager. “When I learned YANMAR and our partner FRM was looking to honor a fallen hero, I felt compelled to present Nicholas’ name. Having his name on the YANMAR #38 car is a great way to show our respect and pay tribute to someone who gave the ultimate sacrifice in service of our country. I appreciate YANMAR, FRM, our driver John Hunter Nemechek and the Carnes family for allowing me the privilege to honor my friend SSG Carnes on Memorial Day weekend, a time created for us all to remember those we've lost in service for our country.”
YANMAR America first partnered with Front Row Motorsports (FRM) and John Hunter Nemecheck in 2019 and continued this year for the eNASCAR iRacing Pro Invitational Series and will also be the primary sponsor for the No. 38 car for the upcoming make-up race for the Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 in Atlanta, the Quaker State 400 in Kentucky, and the All-Star Race in Charlotte.
Terry Wallace, YANMAR Industrial Engines Division Manager said, “We are excited to continue our partnership with FRM and John Hunter and to finally debut the #38 YANMAR car on the actual track this weekend in Charlotte. Memorial Day is a special holiday to recognize the men and women in our Armed Forces. We are honored and privileged to pay respect to SSG Nicholas Carnes, a fallen hero and friend of one of our own military members, Matt Hilliard. It is also an honor to have the Folds of Honor logo displayed on our car.”
