A technical seminar organized by Yanmar and CLLS was recently held on 2 August 2016 at Concorde Hotel. Attendees of this seminar included key members of the oil & gas and shipping industry. During the seminar, information on Yanmar’s Large Marine diesel engine products was shared.

Selective Catalytic Reduction and the environmental-friendly Gas/ Dual fuel marine engine were introduced by Yanmar’s marine engine senior designer, Masaru Hirose. Much focus was placed on the EY-33 engine as it has an astounding output of 6000 horsepower, the highest among the EY series. The manufacturing phase for the auxiliary engines has commenced and the development phase for the propulsion engines is on its way towards completion.

The EY series is a creation based on Yanmar’s concept of Life Cycle Value and belief in harmony with nature. With an optimized combustion performance and an enhanced load range under actual conditions, fuel efficiency has improved. Nitrogen oxides (NOx) and CO2 have also been decreased in order to comply with International Maritime Organization (IMO) emissions regulations. Additionally, durability of key components have been increased to boost maintenance cycles.

With the improvements made to this new series, Yanmar wishes to strengthen its efforts to build a more sustainable future with less environmental impacts and at the same time improve the life cycle value for its customers.
