A Yanmar ViO33-6 mini-excavator is used daily inside a wide park that frames an 18th-century villa in Cernusco Lombardone, Lombardy (Italy). The machine is owned by the company Vimercati Giardini, which has specialized in the creation and maintenance of gardens since 2000.

For those living in Brianza, Lombardy (Italy), Montevecchia represents the most romantic place close to home. At its foot lays Cernusco Lombardone, a municipal area surrounded by greenery, and characterized by the presence of forests, villas and mansions rich in history and charm, and vast parks and gardens. Here, company Vimercati Giardini of Robbiate specializes in floriculture and gardening and, landscaping; and is using three Yanmar mini-excavators to guarantee absolute reliability and efficiency with its operations.

Situated in Cernusco Lombardone, Vimercati Giardini specializes precisely in the creation and maintenance of gardens, engaging its 11 employees on a daily basis in the province of Lecco. It operates a fleet of about 30 vehicles (not including various other types of equipment) for its activities, including its three trusty Yanmar units. In this case, in addition to a 1 t SV08-1C mini-excavator that the company has been using for a few years now – particularly for operations in confined spaces and for the construction of irrigation systems – it also uses a 1.8 t ViO17 and a 3.2 t ViO33-6, purchased between 2023 and 2024." Company owner Matteo Vimercati explains:

"Vimercati Giardini was founded in January 2000 and specializes in the creation and maintenance of gardens, which we manage from 'A' to 'Z'. Our fleet, consisting of machines of all kinds, currently includes our Yanmar SV08-1C, ViO17 and ViO33-6 mini-excavators. Yanmar Compact Equipment(Yanmar) is a brand that guarantees us absolute reliability and to which we have decided to turn whenever we need to replace an obsolete model.”

The guardian of the gardens

A staple of Vimercati Giardini is the green maintenance of a historic, 17th-century villa located in Cernusco Lombardone. The complex is enhanced by magnificent Italianate gardens and a vast English-style park. On the side opposite the entrance, across the road, stretches a "perspective telescope" composed of a double row of cypress poplars, which descends in a straight line to the Molgora stream and then rises again and leads the eye toward the hill of Montevecchia. Rows that had become rarefied over time but which the current owners of the villa recently had restored, taking advantage precisely of the expertise of Vimercati Giardini, which has punctually brought the area back to life using historical photos of the site and planting more cypress trees on the crags that point to the famous shrine.

Matteo Vimercati tells: “We have been working in the park of this villa for 12 years, engaging three people every day and, now, also the Yanmar ViO33-6 mini-excavator equipped with a cab which, equipped with various equipment (including also a forestry grapple, used in case of tree felling and employed for loading the cut logs on trucks, for their relative transfer outside the residence), allows us to quickly perform both excavations inside the park and the loading and removal of branches.”

The Yanmar ViO33-6 mini-excavator, like the other two models mentioned and like much of the equipment Vimercati Giardini owns, was purchased from dealer Canziani Macchine of Saronno (Milan). The latter is a 'historic' Yanmar dealer, active in the sale and rental of earthmoving, construction and road machinery, as well as for 30 years of the Japanese brand's entire range in several strategic areas of northern Italy. "The ViO33-6 represents an ideal solution for the activity in which we specialize: in addition to standing out for its important operational capabilities, it is characterized by its compact dimensions (the width of is 1,550 mm) and is able to work effectively in even very tight spaces,” explains Vimercati.

The Yanmar ViO33-6 mini-excavator, in fact, is a zero-tail swing excavator capable of reaching a digging depth of 2,820-3,070 mm and which, thanks to its small turning radius, ensures maximum operational safety and comfort in multiple operating contexts. "Of the ViO33-6," adds Vimercati, "we greatly appreciate its ease of use and maintenance, the attention to detail and the engine that, in addition to being extremely reliable, ensures low fuel consumption and limits polluting emissions. The VIPPS flow summing hydraulic system is another 'feather in the cap' of this model and ensures us smooth and simultaneous performance.”

In the cab, all control levers are in an ideal position to reduce operator fatigue and achieve high precision of movements, ideal for the often time-intensive and detail-oriented nature of Vimercati Giardini’s projects. “All hoods are made of metal, and the path of hydraulic hoses is well defined and protected,” continues Vimercati. “The cylinders on the boom also enjoy full protection, and this is important when working around obstacles such as branches or trees. How to define this machine in one word? Reliable!"
