New Website Highlights YMI’s Global Status
Confirmation that YANMAR MARINE INTERNATIONAL (YMI) is now a distinct business entity within the global YANMAR group is provided by its newly-launched website. The Japanese diesel engine manufacturing corporation’s YMI subsidiary, which is based near Amsterdam in the Netherlands, was formed at the beginning of 2015 and now has its own standalone website, www.yanmarmarine.com.
Clarity and simplicity
Like YANMAR’s corporate website, the new YMI site stands out for its exceptional clarity and simplicity of use. Go to the title page and the user sees immediately what Yanmar Marine International is all about. A continuously cycling three- slide show displays the latest YMI marine leisure and light commercial marine common-rail engine families and Yanmar’s support in successive America’s Cup racing campaigns.
Such movie presentations can be distracting, but not this one. Scroll immediately below and there side-by-side are the five product groups that YMI offers. Just one mouse click on any of the red ‘SEE ALL’ boxes takes you through to the full product offering in each group. So whether your interest is in sailboat and small craft engines 10-160 mhp, powerboat engines 150-480 mhp, light commercial duty and SOLAS engines 10-480 mhp, YANMAR propulsion, and maneuvering systems, or heavy-duty commercial engines and marine generators, all it takes is another click to drill down deep and access immediately the detail of what you’re seeking.
If, for example, you want to know more about a particular powerboat engine, a third click will give you a specification, a fourth provides a download of any chosen technical document.
All along the route, it’s simple to divert and browse the latest YMI product news or hit one of the link buttons close at hand, for instance, to locate a service dealer close to you – again, all it takes is a couple of clicks. «Our web designers have done an excellent job in making intuitively easy what can otherwise often be a confusing mass of information that’s hard to navigate,» says Naoki Maehara, YMI global marketing manager. «From the clear sans serif typeface on a white background that’s easy on the eye to the minimalist and uncluttered page layouts, we believe that our new YMI website perfectly reflects our brand values.»
