YANMAR Common-rail has the X-Factor

YANMAR MARINE INTERNATIONAL’s 4JH45, the smallest common-rail diesel engine available in the boating market, has been chosen as standard equipment by Danish performance sailing cruiser builder X-Yachts for its new-range X4 model.

This latest 12.5m yacht by one of the world’s most successful series builders of hi-tech cruiser-racers follows the company’s tradition of producing clean-lined craft in the Scandinavian style with outstanding sailing performance. X-Yachts moulds by vacuum infusion in epoxy resin with foam cores to make them strong, stiff and light and fits them out with high-end equipment.

“We are very pleased to be associated with X-Yachts, a company that’s noted for building production craft of a very high order,” says Floris Lettinga, YMI’s global sales manager. “This is a builder that is particularly discerning in its choice of equipment. We believe that our new JH range of compact high-performance, high-efficiency and ultra low-emission common-rail diesels complements the design and manufacturing principles of Scandinavia’s premier performance sailing cruiser brand,” he points out.

“The exceptionally low noise, vibration, exhaust gas fume levels have set new standards in sailboat propulsion in terms of comfort on-board,” Lettinga says.

In common with all of YANMAR’s new generation of marine diesel engines, the 4JH series was designed from the outset specifically for marine applications. The 4JH45 four-cylinder, 2.2 ltr, naturally aspirated engine delivers 45 mhp at 3,000 rpm. It meets EPA Tier 3 and RCD 2 (2016) emissions standards.

Launch

X-Yachts will launch the new X4 sailing cruiser during the upcoming summer and autumn boat show season. At the same time, it will also be unveiling its 20.1m sibling, the new X6 model. This too will be fitted with a YANMAR marine engine. In this case it will be the YANMAR 6BY3-160 Series, offered as an option for this model and with shaft-drive transmission. This six-cylinder, 3 ltr common-rail engine delivers 160 mhp with assistance from turbocharged and charge-cooled aspiration.
