Yanmar to Establish Bio Innovation Center in Kurashiki, Japan

We live in an ever changing world that places greater importance on sustainable food production. Yanmar’s expertise in agriculture and fisheries run deep and wide and to stay at the forefront of ground-breaking research that leads to a more sustainable tomorrow, Yanmar opened a bio innovation center in Osaka, Japan in January of this year. To intensify bioresearch on a much larger scale, plans are underway for a new research facility to be established in Okayama prefecture, Japan, the Bio Innovation Center – Kurashiki Lab.
Yanmar will encourage involvement from domestic and international research institutes and will also welcome other companies to take part in research there. Proactively supporting open innovation, Yanmar hopes that the new center in Kurashiki will facilitate research that benefits all of society in years to come.

- Site area: approx. 2.5 hectares
- Research area: approx. 500 square meters
Testing areas: approx. 60 and 20 ares, respectively - Manager: A. Konishi
Core Aim:
The new facility will encourage external participation from other companies, domestic and international institutes for bioresearch. They will carry out and collect data on a diverse spectrum of bioresearch in vegetable and fruit cultivation. Key areas of biotechnology research will involve climate control and tissue cultures to produce food with the highest level of safety under extremely efficient practices.
