Yanmar to Take Part in the Yodogawa Flower Project
February 4, 2013
Yanmar Co., Ltd.
Yanmar is to participate in Volume 1: "Milk vetch seed planting", of the Yodogawa Flower Project, jointly hosted by the municipal government of Osaka's Kita ward and the Junior Chamber International Osaka.
1. Support Activities:
The flowers are to be planted along the southern bank of the Osaka's Yodogawa River, the site of a proposed road extension to be built in a few years' time. Using Yanmar's agricultural machinery, our volunteers will take part in work to inspect and test the soil before tilling and preparing it for planting.
2. Background:
The Flower Project site on the south bank of the Yodogawa falls under the auspices of the City of Osaka. With work on the planned 4km road extension not due to start for a few years, the Project was begun to elicit the participation of city residents in the planting of seasonal flowers such as milk vetch, cosmos and rape blossoms, to beautify the area.
Yanmar has its headquarters in the Kita ward of central Osaka, and has been active in support of efforts towards the greening of Osaka, contributing through the Umeda Honey Bee Project, and now, the Yodogawa Flower Project as part of its comprehensive CSR program.
3. Milk Vetch Seed Planting:
Yanmar tractors and power tillers will plow a little over a kilometer of the site (east of the JR Tokkaido Line), where milk vetch will be seeded in the first stage of the project.
