The Yanmar Almere City Run will return with its 12th edition on 18 June 2023. Registration is now open for anyone wishing to take part. Yanmar new title sponsor of The Almere City Run
The Almere City Run has been Almere's largest running event for years. The event is made possible by the municipality, volunteers and – of course – the thousands of people who participate. While Yanmar has sponsored the Yanmar 4 Mijl in recent years, Yanmar has now taken a new path as the title sponsor of the Almere City Run.
"We're pleased to sponsor the Yanmar Almere City Run. It's an excellent way to give back to the community that has been contributing to Yanmar Europe's success for 34 years and that most of our employees call home. Sponsoring the Almere City Run makes sense: we're both passionate about achieving challenging goals together with dedication and sporting spirit. What started as a staff activity with 50 enthusiastic runners has grown into us becoming the title sponsor, we are today. We're delighted to support the Almere City Run", says Dana van Kammen, Marketing Manager of Yanmar Europe.
Programme and courses
The Yanmar Almere City Run includes distances for both young and old. The Yanmar Almere City Run 15km is the main attraction on the day, but it doesn't stop there. Participants can choose between the 15, 10 or the popular 6.4km, also known as ‘Rondje Weerwater’, while the Jongerenloop (2km) and the Kids Run (800m) are also available for young people.
Everyone receives a well-earned medal when they cross the finish line, and just like the previous editions, runners will start on the Esplanade. The course follows the Weerwater, and the 10km and Yanmar Almere City Run 15km include an extra loop through nature and along the Lange Wetering. The runners finish on the atmospheric Esplanade.
"The Yanmar Almere City Run promises to be a great success again this year. With the changes to the programme and new title sponsor Yanmar, the foundations have been laid for the Yanmar Almere City Run to continue to grow in the years to come. Our aim is to get as many Almere residents moving as possible. Working with local and regional organisations is a huge help in this regard. In particular, our partnership with Yanmar and our shared drive and dedication to achieve our goals", says Sophie Appeldoorn, Project Manager at Yanmar Almere City Run, with a smile.
Stichting Opkikker
The charity for this year's Yanmar Almere City Run is “Stichting Opkikker”. The foundation, which is also based in Almere, is committed to helping families with children suffering from long-term illnesses. The aim is to provide these families with some relief and help them take their minds off the illness for a short time. Participants can donate to Stichting Opkikker when signing up.
