On 31st March, the new wellboat MS "Kristoffer Tronds", came home to her owners in Norway: Alsaker FjordBruk AS. The vessel was built at the Spanish shipyard Astilleros de Murueta. The latest addition to the Alsaker fleet is a large life fish carrier. The 90 meter long wellboat was designed by Salt Ship Design from Norway and has a well capacity of more than 5,000 m3.

YANMAR engines and SCR

MS "Kristoffer Tronds" has been equipped with 5 YANMAR marine engines. The 6-cylinder 6EY22ALWS engines are well known for their low fuel consumption and easy maintenance. YANMAR also delivered the SCR system, developed and manufactured by YANMAR with a design and functionality that is optimized for marine vessels. Engines and SCR fully complies with IMO TIER III emission regulations.

COVID-19 measures

The installation and commissioning of the engines and SCR system was more challenging than usual due to the COVID-19 measures in place. YANMAR and distributor SKV did a great job despite the restrictions. SKV was present on-site, while YANMAR's Service Department supported the SCR start-up remotely with success.
