YANMAR Newsmaker Of The Year 2019

Amsterdam, February 25 – Yanmar is proud to be chosen as DieselProgress International’s Newsmaker of the Year for 2019. Awarded each year by the editorial staff of DieselProgress International (DPI) to the  person, company, or subject that makes the most news in DPI in a given calendar year, the closely watched accolade serves as a bellwether for industry trends and top performers. Amid a highly competitive field that included many of the biggest names in diesel engine manufacturing, Yanmar’s contributions were singled out for their innovation and the breadth of the company’s new offerings. Yanmar is also the first Japanese company to receive this prestigious award.

In announcing their decision, DPI highlighted Yanmar’s all new 4TN diesel engine range represented by the 4TN101 (3.8L) and the 4TN107 (4.6L). The engines represent an entry in to an all new power range for the company and have been the focus of attention in the industry. More recently, Yanmar was in the headlines again when it showed the Stage V compliant 4TN101 in its agricultural configuration complete with aftertreatment system at the Agritechnica trade show in Germany.

DPI called attention to the new gas industrial engine range unveiled in 2019 (with mass-production scheduled for 2020), and the new 80,000-unit capacity industrial engine factory the company is building in Chennai, India. DPI also gave the nod to a wide range of off-road drivetrain solutions developed by subsidiary, Tuff Torq including that company’s electric and hybrid drivetrain units.

“Yanmar is a company that has innovation in its DNA,” said industrial engine sales director Carlo Giudici. “Yanmar’s history of more than 100 years is a story of developing solutions to meet the needs of our customers, and we think this award is recognition that this continues today.”

Yanmar certainly has no plans to rest on its laurels after this achievement. As mentioned, gas engine mass-production is scheduled and the Chennai plant is scheduled to start its operation from 2020. And with the 4TN series set to be making headlines again in 2020, Yanmar will be giving the staff at DieselProgress International lots to think about when their choice for Newsmaker of 2020 rolls around.
