Yanmar’s Energy Systems Business is composed of three solutions areas: Power Generation, HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning), and CHP (Combined Heat and Power). Our products include stand-by generator systems for use as backup power during outages, generator sets for construction sites and remote areas without power infrastructure, highly efficient gas heat pump air conditioners powered by gas engines, combined heat and power systems and waste heat power generation systems that effectively use power generation and waste heat, and energy management systems (EMS) that realize visualization of energy use and optimal control of heat and electricity. We are engaged in solving wide-ranging energy challenges on a global scale. Here we describe some of Yanmar’s Energy Systems Business’s initiatives.
To help customers find solutions to their diversifying energy challenges, the Yanmar Group is strengthening partnerships in its Energy Systems business internationally. To deliver solutions with greater global reach, in 2015 we acquired a majority stake in Spain-based HIMOINSA S.L., which develops, manufactures, sells, and services generator sets. In 2024, we acquired 100% of the shares of TEDOM a.s (Czech Republic), which develops, manufactures, sells, and services combined heat and power solutions. By developing products that leverage the strengths of each company and growing sales channels in global markets, we are taking on initiatives in the field of energy to realize a sustainable future.
The Yanmar Group is using state-of-the-art technologies to supply power, heat and cooling to the new Başakşehir Çam Sakura City Hospital in Istanbul, Turkey, one of the largest hospitals in Europe. An energy system that can provide continuous power to this entire massive facility in the event of a power grid outage was essential for saving the lives of its many patients.
Yanmar’s trigeneration system (12MW) supplies power needed to run the hospital throughout the year. It also reduces CO2 emissions by approximately 60% and saves €1.8m annually in energy costs over their existing system by utilizing waste heat produced during electricity generation. In the event of a power outage, backup diesel generators (25 units x 2500kVA) will supply power.
Yanmar’s Energy Systems Business is focusing on the development of solutions using environmentally conscious energy toward the realization of a decarbonized society. As part of these efforts, we have established the YANMAR CLEAN ENERGY SITE in Okayama, Japan, for testing clean energy equipment such as hydrogen power generation systems. This site will serve as a testing facility for eco-conscious products aimed at customers seeking to achieve carbon neutrality, as well as offering tours to raise awareness about our efforts. We will listen closely to the carbon neutrality-related needs and energy issues faced by our customers and engage in dialogue to form collaborative solutions.
