Yanmar Co., Ltd.

Yanmar Maibara Research & Development Center, Japan was awarded the "Good Design Award 2011" by the Japan Institute of Design Promotion.

Inaugurated in 2000 in Maibara city, Shiga prefecture, the Center has undergone multiple design changes in terms of peripheral structures and ecological facilities, in cooperation with the city’s plan for urban environmental improvement and land replanning.
Ever since its foundation in 1912, Yanmar has been actively involved in the manufacturing of products that make efficient use of energy resources and contribute to an environmentally sustainable society.
This award recognizes the original design created through collaboration between Yanmar and the renowned Nikken Sekkei construction company, which resembles the interior of a diesel engine, the driving force behind the growth of Yanmar. The award also acknowledges the harmonious integration of the facility into the surrounding landscape and its low environmental impact.
The Center is expected to continue to play a major role in the development of innovative products that tackle environmental concerns and make the most of scarce energy resources.
